Our story

DARKVOLT was founded in 2025 in Austin, Texas by Dr. Barry Flannery to continue his mission of enabling electrification. 

Barry previously founded and ran a leading off-highway battery pack manufacturer based in Ireland called Xerotech. He raised $80m, employed 170 people had many blue-chip OEMs and US Defense Primes as customers during his 10-year tenure as CEO. He is the named inventor on over 100 patents related to advanced battery technology.

Following a corporate takeover in late 2024 that led to Xerotech’s closure, Barry reacquired its core intellectual property and assets—laying the foundation for DARKVOLT to build a next-generation battery platform evolved from Xerotech’s ten-year legacy.
