Scalable Advanced Battery for Resilient Energy or SABRE™ is a massively scalable battery system specifically designed for low-volume high-diversity critical power applications. 

With SABRE™ you can choose your desired energy content, operating voltage range, physical dimensions, and even battery cell chemistry. Packs can be paralleled to achieve MWh-scale capacity and MW-class power output.

Massive Scalability.

The SABRE™ battery platform is built on a modular platform using 2170 cylindrical battery cells, allowing for high flexibility and economies of scale. You can leverage the volume efficiencies of an entire common platform shared across multiple customers and industries, even when buying just a single pack. 

All packs are built with scalable modules, side-wall liquid thermal management, passive propagation-resistant technology, and our SENTINEL™ battery management system is capable of outputting >2 MW pulses of power.

Packs can be scaled from 1–500 kWh in a single enclosure with voltages ranging from 12–1500 Vdc. Up to 40 packs can be stacked in parallel achieving MWh-scale energy storage. 

Resilience Redefined.

SABRE™ battery systems are designed to withstand cell-level thermal runaway (UL2580) and feature advanced module-module level propagation resistant design with pack-level venting designed to comply with military-level (NAVSEA S9310-AQ-SAF-010) abuse testing which far exceeds commercial safety standards.

The system is designed to comply with military grade environmental toughness (MIL-810H) and is rated for IP68 submersion (<2m) for wading applications. 

The SENTINEL™ battery management system is designed to comply with ISO26262 ASIL-D functional safety rating and harsh EMI environments (MIL-STD-461). Custom solutions can be designed to achieve resilience against directed energy effects.

Extreme Performance.

SABRE™ battery systems are designed for high-performance applications and excel in hybrid-drive and pulse-power applications. The SENTINEL™ battery management system and battery disconnect unit has a continuous output rating of 800 A up to 1500 Vdc. Pulse power for short durations >2000 amps are possible from a single pack.

High-performance side-wall liquid thermal management enables continuous operation in -46 °C to +71 °C with a suitably sized external active thermal mangement system. 

Platform gravimetric energy density >210 Wh/kg and volumetric energy density > 420 Wh/l are achievable even with steel enclosures and heavy internal PPR potting.
